How to Choose the Right Bridesmaids for Your Wedding

As a bride to be, there are a lot of big decisions that you need to make for that big day. You need to pick out the perfect dress that will have all eyes on you from the moment you walk in the room. You need to pick out the food, the location, the flowers, and the music. And that is just the start to the big list of to-do’s that you need to get done.

One big decision to make is who to be your bridesmaids. Whether you have a long list of friends you would like to ask or you are more limited, you want to pick the right people who are there to provide the love and support you need on this important day. Some of the things to consider when choosing bridesmaids to walk down the aisle with you include:

    • Ask someone who supports you and your fiancé: if there is someone on your friends’ list, or in your family, who isn’t supportive of the marriage or who doesn’t like your partner, then it is not a good idea to ask them to have this important role in the ceremony.
    • Ask someone who is enthusiastic about the wedding: You want someone who is all excited to be there for the big day and ready for all the challenges that will come. If you want to ask someone but they do not like the idea of attending weddings, then this may not be for them.
    • Don’t pick someone who will drive you crazy: Yes, they may be your sibling or the girlfriend of your fiances best friend, but if they are going to drive you insane, then you need to avoid asking them.
    • Avoid the person who tries to one-up you: It is not selfish to ask for one day that is all about you. If you are worried about someone trying to one-up you all day long, then this is not someone who should be by your side on your wedding day.
    • Ask someone who is a lot of fun: Your wedding day is going to be long and a lot of work. Find some bridesmaids who will be super fun and can make the wedding and all of its celebrations a bit better.
    • Avoid people with a lot of obligations: This is not to put someone down for being busy. But if they have a ton of other obligations at this time, they may not be able to add something else to their list or handle some of the costs associated. Invite them if they are important, but be mindful of some of the different things they have going on.

When you keep some of these tips in mind, you will find it is much easier to pick a great bridesmaid who will be there for you and can make the day a little bit better. Choosing the right bridesmaids can help bring happy memories to the day and avoids some of the drama as well!
